Recap: The Atlanteans want to take their rightful place on the surface world. Krang is pushing for a violent takeover. Namor wants to do it through diplomacy. To take over legally, Namor wants to sue the human race for depriving him of his birthright. To do this, he causes trouble to get arrested. He uses this to get a lawyer- Matt Murdock. Daredevil and Namor battle quite a bit. Namor is a little too much for Daredevil. Daredevil uses his brains and electrocutes Namor. It’s not enough. Namor ultimately wins and heads back to Atlantis to battle Krang. While battling, Namor witnesses the integrity and grit of Daredevil. At one point he saves him from drowning, calling him valiant. The issue, like the others ends in the offices of Nelson and Murdock.
Thoughts: For me, this is the DD grail. Well, obviously number one is, but this is one that is affordable and very important. It is drawn by Wally Wood, which means it’s beautiful, and it’s the first red costume. Hopefully, my wife reads this and buys me a 9.0 or higher issue:) This issue also introduces his billy club, cane, with a cable that shoots out, giving DD the ability to swing. As with the other issues, this one ends in the office. Matt almost carelessly gives away his identity again to Karen. She repeats the line again about how Matt can see things others don’t. I would imagine as a Marvel reader at the time, one could jump right over to Namor and find out what happens with Krang.
